Dogs on Thursday!

Welcome to Dogs on Thursday! I can't believe it is Thursday already; where has the week gone?
Max and I have been working on a project to share with you all but we were unable to get it finished for this weeks post. I've been extremely busy trying to get some customers quilts done so hopefully next week.
So how about a few baby pictures?
Everyone likes baby pictures right!

~Max's first week home~

He is a snuggling kind of guy and the hubby said "first time he wets the bed he is out"; so WAH LAH we pulled out the old pampers! I know not everyone is into the whole "pets in the bed" thing but I am and that's what we do here. He wore the diaper all night and for several nights; we didn't have an accident, we got to snuggle and it was the fastest potty training I've had with a little one in quit some time.

(disclaimer - not suitable for all furry friends)

~ Good dental hygeine is very important~

~A good toy to snuggle with~

~And then a new day begins all over with more things to get into~

Please be sure to stop by Dogs on Thursday and visit some of our other furry friends.

Enjoy your day,

Sharon & Max

Magazine Mondays ~ Buttermilk Pancakes

Welcome to "Magazine Mondays" hosted by Ivonne at Cream Puffs in Venice. Please pay her a visit where you are sure to find some mouth-watering, lip-licking, hip-hugging goodies!

In my attempt to weed through my piles of magazines to find that just so right recipe for this week I am being called back to an old favorite that when the recipe is misplaced I begin to hyperventilate and feel nervous tremors ;) It is a simple but classic buttermilk pancake recipe from Cooking Light.

We are a simple family and enjoy simple meals. I have been blessed with two family members (you know who you are) that are very picky eaters. So every once in awhile we like breakfast at dinner (or as they say in the South - for supper).

Buttermilk Pancakes

Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup low-fat buttermilk
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 large egg, lightly beaten
Cooking spray

Preparation
Lightly spoon flour into a dry measuring cup; level with a knife. Combine flour and next 4 ingredients (flour through salt) in a large bowl, and make a well in center of mixture. Combine buttermilk, oil, and egg; add to flour mixture, stirring until smooth.

Spoon about 1/4 cup batter onto a hot nonstick griddle or nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray. Turn pancakes when tops are covered with bubbles and edges look cooked.

Yield
9 (4-inch) pancakes (serving size: 1 pancake)

Served with warm maple syrup, thick sliced bacon (baked of course) and a little oj.....now that's some comfort food!

Enjoy,
Sharon

Max's Big Adventure

Welcome to Dogs on Thursday!

Meet Max

Max is our two year old Yorkie that saved my heart two years ago today. He was a very sweet gift from my husband who could no longer watch me grieve after the loss of our other Yorkie Bubba.

This picture was taken shortly after we brought him home. He pulled this quilt on to the floor and made his nest which immediately touched my heart because this was Bubba's quilt. I knew he was meant to be with us as he was already showing his affection for quilts.

We recently went on vacation to visit my husbands family in Ohio. A road trip Max has been on before. He is not very fond of car rides but some how he manages this long journey without any problems.

After arriving at the grandparents house we took a short drive over to Tallmadge; a small quaint town.

I was immediately inspired by this sweet little Church. I see a quilt in progress ;)

Max was so hoping to go inside...

The weather was incredible; high 60's low 70's. Perfect weather for walks in the neighborhood.

After a wonderful week of quality time with family, lots of petting, belly rubbing and extra treats it was time to make the journey back home.

We had a great time, the weather was perfect, but as always it is good to be home!

Please be sure to stop by Dogs on Thursday and visit some of our other furry friends

Enjoy your day,

Sharon

Birthday #4

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my Mom's birthday and she would have been 66.

As far back as I can remember my mom always spent her birthday baking my birthday cake and making preparations for a birthday party that was guaranteed to be better than the last one. And every year she had the same story to tell of how she spent her 21st birthday in the hospital waiting on me. When I was little I didn't think much of it because I was always slow and often ran late (still do). When I was a teenager I interpreted that as I was probably an inconvenience to a mile stone birthday that she missed out on. As an adult and a mother myself it is all very clear; she would have loved nothing more than to have shared her special day with me but as it was we would always spread the celebration over two days.

It is so amazing to me that as moms (and dads as well) that we sacrifice so much and do so much for our children unconditionally and with out thinking.

She was my mentor, my educator, my protector, my friend and my guardian angel on this earth. She loved me unconditionally and without thought. So on this day, her day I spent it with good friends, eating birthday cake and doing the one thing she taught me to do very well and that was sew.

With loving thoughts of my mom Linda,

Birthday #3

Today our sweet little Salley celebrated her 8th birthday!

She has blessed us with 7 years and 9 months of wet kisses and late night yappy barks; tons of hole digging and dirt moving. She makes every attempt to ward of all evil and good being the furious schipperke that she is (not).

By day she can be found lounging with the girlfriends watching the day pass by

(pay no attention to the hole in the background; you won't get a confession)

And by night she turns into a Princess!

Happy Birthday my little furry friend!

Another happy day!

Birthday Party #2

Today my little girlfriend turned "6"

We spent the afternoon together like two wild women on the loose!

When I picked her up she said "where are you taking me Grandma?" I was sure she already had her itinerary planned out so I was kind of taken back by the question. I replied with "well where would you like to go? We can go anywhere; shopping, for ice cream, the moon, Chicago...." After a brief pause she replies...."Let's not go to the moon today Grandma I want to be back by dinner; let's go to Chicago!"
Well we made a compromise and went to IHop ;) She loves pancakes!

After a little shopping and a whole lot of giggles the day could not be complete without some ice cream from the two story McDonald's

My day was completed with a big hug, a kiss and "I love you Grandma, thank you for a great day"

Oh my heart be still....but seriously ~ I'm going to need to call Jenny Craig by the end of the week!

156,000 calories later,

Sharon

Ps: Don't forget my birthday give away this weekend! Send me a comment and tell which one of your birthdays was your favorite AND what is your favorite flavor of birthday cake

Birthdays Galore!

July is a month of celebrating for my family. We have several birthdays that are all right together. This past Saturday my grandson celebrated his 1st birthday!

Tomorrow my grandaughter will turn "6"

Thursday ~ one of our sweet dogs will turn 8 (we celebrate theirs too)

Friday ~ I will be thinking of my mother as it would have been her 66th birthday

Saturday ~ is my birthday ;)

Sunday ~ our youngest niece will be turning 21!

Now that's a lot of cake to eat!!

I love birthdays, I love celebrating life and I love a good reason or any reason to have a party! I enjoy shopping for presents, wrapping them and watching them being ripped open (that's what small children do).

So with that being said I would love nothing more than if you would help me celebrate my 45th birthday! I'm thinking ~ a "Give away"!!

Send me a comment and let me know what was your favorite birthday and what is your favorite flavor of birthday cake.

Sunday morning I will draw one lucky winner and send YOU a present.....

one for you to keep and one for you to give away!!

Let the parties begin, again and again :)
Celebrating with you,
Sharon
