I have asked a dear friend of mine to make something fabulous for someone special. I can't say who it is for or what it is because sometimes she takes an occasional peak at my blog. But my dear friend is finished (hint - I have mentioned her before) and she sent me a sneak peak picture. So as soon as I receive it and as soon as I give it I will share it with you. I'm so excited I can hardly wait. This lady does phenomenal work!
Anxiously awaiting,
Sharon

A Sunday Staple
I loooove pot roast on Sunday and this is my ALL time favorite mix for pot roast! I have tried slow cookers and roasting pans but they just can't top a good cut of beef in the skillet with this mix. In about 1 1/2 to 2 hours you can cut your roast with a fork.
It is hard to find in my area but when our local grocery store has it in I stock up. My husband laughs at me because I rarely leave any for anyone else (LOL).
It is deee-lish!

Memorial Day Weekend
Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died serving our country. This is a great time to honor our veterans. Many will gather with family and friends, some will have BBQ's, some will attend parades, some will decorate graves of loved ones and some will just rest. Whatever you do or wherever you go this weekend, be safe, enjoy your time and REMEMBER!
With loving thoughts of those who serve,

Gone Bananas!
It always seems as if we have more bananas than we can eat so on this rainy, cold and damp day something warm sounded very tasty.
Banana-Oatmeal Bread
Ingredients
1 cup packed brown sugar
7 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 large egg whites
1 large egg
1 1/3 cups mashed ripe banana (about 2 large)
1 cup regular oats
1/2 cup fat-free milk
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Cooking spray
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°.
Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl; beat well at medium speed of a mixer. Combine banana, oats, and milk; add to sugar mixture, beating well. Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon; stir with a whisk. Add to sugar mixture; beat just until moist. Spoon batter into a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan on a wire rack; remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack.

Happy Mother's Day

Playing with dirt
We have received so much rain here lately that it has been too difficult to get anything done in the yard. It rained all night last night so now is the perfect time to pull weeds before we are blessed with more rain this evening. Summer will be here before long and we will be complaining that it is hot and no rain. So I'm off to go and plant pretty things and enjoy the rays of sunshine.
Enjoy your day!

A Day at The Nest
I LOVE field trips! and this little pin cushion of mine inspired my Girl Gang quilting group to take one. Yesterday seven of us took a field trip to my friend Pat's house for a pin cushion class. She has the sweetest little studio called the Bird Nest on the Ground It is nestled under a large tree with a front porch that greets you with such a warm country charm. We spent the day in the nest learning how to recreate this beautiful little pin cushion and enjoying all of Pat's vintage collectibles and her most inspiring works of art. We had the best time!
I purchased this sweet little treasure about a year ago from Pat's etsy store with the intentions of giving it as a gift. What I didn't realize is what an inspiring new friend I would gain as well and I found I just could not part with it. Her work just amazes me with all the tiny little details and embellishments that she puts in to it. She is very modest about her work and would not think it is much of a big deal but it just simply WOW's me and inspires me to venture off and try new things. Yesterday I learned embroidery and next time I hope beading.
Visit and be inspired!
