and a quilting we went! This past weekend was our annual AWOL retreat for our Quilt Guild. Although it is not limited to just members we had visitors from far and away. We spent three days and two short nights sewing, visiting, eating and just sharing life with dear friends and new friends.
The talent that filled the room from 29 gifted women and one very brave man was very robust. The stories that were shared varied from raising children, loosing loved ones, quilting successes or memories of county fairs either left you in a quandary to cry or just laugh so darn hard it hurt.
If you are new to quilting, beading, scrapbooking, knitting, etc. and have never had a "retreat" experience I would strongly encourage you to do so. You pack very little clothing and all the sewing supplies a small sedan can hold along with your favorite pillow and off you go. Now the pillow is to just rest your head from time to time because you can always sleep when you get home.
My dear friend of 37 years joined me on this wonderful adventure and now she has headed back home to Hawaii. As I sit and reflect on the past few days I think, "Wow, what a great time we had and how truly blessed we are to share in the lives of others". I miss my friends already.............
